Local businesses came out to support more than 51,000 students in a golf tournament hosted by the Capistrano Unified School District Foundation (CUSD Foundation) on Thursday, November 16th, raising more than $67,000. Community Bank was one of more than 50 local businesses to donate to the event.
The tournament, which took place at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point, empowers students in the Capistrano Unified School District. Proceeds raised will fund science, technology, math programs, and requests from teachers and booster clubs.
Donations ranged from monetary donations, to volunteering, providing auction items and food, and golfing.
Community Bank’s Malinda Goller (Regional Vice President, Laguna Niguel) serves on the Board for the CUSD Foundation. Malinda’s daughters, husband and herself have attended school in the Capistrano district.
“The golf tournament is our largest fund raising opportunity and a great avenue to connect with the community. The best part of the tournament is involving our students. The culinary students from various high schools will be providing food items for our golfers as well as music and dance numbers at the dinner,” said Malinda.
Community Bank Board Member Craig Stewart, (also one of the Bank’s family owners) was a guest golfer.
The mission of the CUSD Foundation is to raise money by developing partnerships with businesses and the community to enhance the quality of education for every student in the Capistrano Unified School District.
Founded in 1992, our non-profit organization has raised over $2,000,000 for students, teachers and schools over the last decade, providing much needed resources to enrich student-learning experiences that fall outside the district’s budgetary reach. Our volunteer-based, non-profit educational partnership raises funds through a variety of programs and events.
